The village of Knapton is situated in North Norfolk, approximately 20 miles north east of Norwich. It is a quiet village, but within 2 miles we have a sandy beach, the holiday resorts of Cromer and Mundesley, the Bittern Line (running a regular train service between Sheringham and Norwich), the market town of North Walsham, swimming pools, fitness centres, bowls clubs, libraries, post offices, hotels, cafes, and public houses. From Liz Winter
"The Poppy Appeal for 2011 in Knapton, Trunch, Mundesley and Gimmingham was very successful, the final total banked this year is £4313.82 of that £1,734.09 was from House to House collections, which included £285.70 from the ladies and gentleman who braved the cold outside the Post Office in Mundesley, £1165.91 from the Poppy boxes in static points such as shops pubs etc.
I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to help with the Poppy Appeal this year. Special thanks go to Jenny, Loraine, Lorraine and Jenny from Trunch Post Office who helped with the count a long but successful evenings work. Every penny is needed for the valuable work that the Royal British Legion participates in, from helping soldiers and their families who are serving at present, to the veterans who have bravely served their country in the past wherever that may have been. Today the Legion works with Help 4 Heroes in establishing rehabilitation centres for serviceman and women who have been injured.
This is my final report as the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Mundesley and District; I hope that someone will come forward to take on this worthy challenge".
(Liz, I am sure that your efforts have helped a great deal in making the Poppy Appeal of 2011 such a great success. Finding someone to takeover is going to be a difficult task indeed.
Enjoy your "retirement"! The editor, Knapton Village website).

Knapton Coffee Club held a special meeting on November 18th, dedicated to
"Children in Need". Unfortunately there were no rikshaws available in the village so a different theme had to be decided.
"EAT CAKE" was proposed. The proposal was carried unanimously. Enter Sally with a wonderful array of home made cakes, eaten (of course)
in the name of Charity. Well done to all those who contributed their time and efforts to such a worthy cause.
Knapton Coffee Club raised £102 for Pudsey Bear. Well done to all!
