Activities - Knapton Gardening Bunch (KGB!)

Knapton Gardening Bunch started their May meeting with a visit to the village's Millennium Garden. We had a good look around at the state of the plants. The last person to prune the shrubs had cut well back and this early in the season there had not been too much growth. There is still much to be done but we felt it was beyond our means to attempt it. We are going to follow up some ideas to have a quick tidy up in the future. We also thought that anyone taking a quiet walk in the garden could pull a few weeds while they were there.  Perhaps a small compost bin could be placed within the garden to save these being taken home?

Over tea and cakes we discussed visits to other gardens. There will be a visit to Shirley Gilbert’s garden 7pm on the 8th June, where we will be given a private tour.  All are welcome to attend. You do not need to be a member of the KGB.  There are further visits planned, watch the newsletter for information on these.

Finally, after much trudging through mud, visits to landfill sites and wormeries, plunging hands deep into piles of rotting vegetation and learning the finer points of Kyubashi bins, I should be able to answer most of your composting questions. If not, I can find out who can. So if you feel like talking rubbish…..
