Recycling & Refuse Collection

North Norfolk District Council supplies 2 wheelie bins to each household. The black bin is for "grey" household waste, and a green bin for certain recylable materials. The black and green bins are collected on alternate weeks; black one week, green the next. The actual collection is on Friday mornings. Be warned though, the collection can be made very early in the morning, so it is safer to get your bins out the previous day.

In addition to the black and green bins, brown ones can be provided for certain garden waste. These bins are not provided free, they are rented from NNDC. The current charge is approximately £35 per year. These are collected fortnightly with the green, recyle bin.

Items that can be put into the Garden Waste brown bins are:

  • Grass cuttings
  • Flowers
  • Plants
  • Hedge cuttings
  • Twigs
  • Prunings
  • Leaves
  • Weeds
  • Christmas trees
  • Vegetable tops etc.
  • Bank Holidays can vary the collection of the bins. Printed details of any such changes are generally attached to the wheelie bins by collection staff prior to the Bank Holiday.
